We've engaged conservator Samantha Emmanuel AIC PM to clean, repair and document the historic mural in our main courtyard. Painted in 1966 by the team of Lucienne Bloch and Stephen P. Dimitroff, the fresco illustrates five episodes in the life of Mary.
Over several weeks, Samantha will meticulously clean the surface, repair minor damage, restore plaster and pigments, and increase our knowledge of the art and its importance to the church, Cow Hollow, and the City.
Following the conservation, we'll be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the fresco's creation; watch this space for news of the event!
