2018 Parish Retreat – Fifty St. Mary’s parishioners spent a glorious May weekend at the Bishop’s Ranch for our annual retreat. Friday night was spent getting to know each other and playing balderdash. While Mike Stafford and Riley Haggin generously led activities with our wild younger attendees, Rev. David led small group discussions on Saturday morning exploring what it means to be a Christian in San Francisco. We reflected on the obstacles and opportunities in sharing our faith with others in the City of St. Francis. We also explored the mission field of St. Mary’s and the changing demographics of our neighborhood.
Saturday afternoon was spent at the pool, reading books overlooking vineyards, or on field trips to those vineyards! Bob and Pam Bledsoe then hosted our group through to a tasting hour where we had another opportunity to build relationships with parishioners that attend all three of our services. Stephen Gamboa and Mike Stafford closed the day with songs by the campfire, including a jaw-dropping rendition of Proud Mary.
Rev. Lin led an intimate Pentecost service with music from Marla Perkins and the kids. We all left the retreat refreshed and looking forward to next year at the Ranch!
